The subject of “nonlawyer” (seriously can’t we come up with a better word?) professionals at law firms is sometimes a sticky one. Most of my career has been as such a professional. So kudos to all the WALD (without a law degree) professionals working at law firms and corporate law departments to help facilitate the practice and the business of law.   1. How is there a better word? If someone isn’t a lawyer then they are, by definition, a “non lawyer”. Why confuse people with anything else? Even a paralegal should have a certificate at minimum in order to be able to claim that Title.
