To promote National Cybersecurity Awareness Month today we’ll talk IoTs. The Internet of Things is like the Force. For all the good it can do and well-meaning intentions, it can be made evil and have unintended consequences. Two months ago CyberITL “completed a large-scale survey of software security practices in the IoT environment.” The results will either scare you or make you sad. “On average, updates were more likely to remove hardening features than add them. Within our 15 year data set, there have been no positive trends from any one vendor.
